Research Objectives and Methodology
The study set out to obtain insight into the property market, with the aim of getting a clearer understanding of the behavioural process during past purchases of property. In addition, the research also analysed the current perception and awareness of real estate agencies operating locally.
This study was carried out by Informa Consultants and consisted of quantitative research making use of a questionnaire which also integrated a number of questions used internationally to assess trends in property purchases and dwelling compositions. The research was carried out during March and April 2015.
For the purpose of this study a sample of 500 net respondents was targeted, consisting of respondents aged between 25 to 65 years. In theory, with a sample of this size, one can say with 95% certainty that the results have a statistical precision of ±4.4 percentage points of what they would be if the entire relevant population had been surveyed with complete accuracy.
The sample consisted of a nationally representative sample and was based on quota sampling, namely focussing on: Age group representation; Gender representation; and Geographic coverage by region and locality. A two-step process was adopted to obtain a stratified sampling procedure.
